“Partners in Development for Research, Consulting and Training” (PID) is an Egyptian expertise house specialized in broad development studies. PID was established as a private company under the Law of Companies No. 159/1981 and the Investment Law No. 8/1997. PID was founded by a number of Egyptian experts, university professors, international organizations’ servants, and businessmen who are concerned about issues of development, who have had a good previous experience in managing one of Cairo University’s studies and research centers, turning it to be globally well-known under their leadership. The founders and staff found PID an opportunity to put their expertise and knowledge at the service of cultural, economic and social, development issues in Egypt and other Arab countries. Moreover, PID, as a private company, ensures the sustainability of its activities, which cannot be ensured within the framework of rules and regulations of Cairo University. For implementing its missions, PID resorts to a large number of experts working in universities and other research centers in Egypt, especially, those who have a vast experience in social and economic development issues and those who are specialized in Economics, IT, Law, Political Science and Public Administration, as well as those who are experts in the fields of Science and Engineering as may be necessary.

Our mission is preforming timely, accurate research that enriches key policy makers and our primary audiences with valuable research on key policy issues. PID’s staff pursues this mission by performing research and analysis related to issues of cultural, economic, social and political development. It is devoted to the provision of consultation to governmental bodies, public and private companies, as well as local and international organizations. We organize training workshops for our partners and effectively market our research findings to research centers and journals concerned with issues of development. In order to share in the policy process, PID strives to reach policy-makers in different ways: they are invited as chairs of sessions and discussants in the conferences presenting findings of its research, they are also invited to meetings of the public forum known as Partners Forum. Publications are sent to them. The policy makers include senior officials of the government, members of both the People's and Shura Assemblies, leaders of political parties, business people and trade unionists. Their responsiveness varies but PID has achieved a measure of success in this respect. Besides the media plays an important role in informing both the public and policy makers of research findings in PID. Scholars working for PID have been involved in several meetings with officials of the government. Our aim is to provide an open platform for debates and discussions, on issues of development in Egypt, the Arab Region and developing countries in general. PID also coordinates with international research entities of developed countries when opportunities arise.

PID actively works to impact policy makers and policy communities through:
1- Research Project: running research projects on issues of cultural, economic and social development with a duration of 6 months to 2 years
2- Workshops: organizing training workshops for civil servants, governmental officials, public officials on issues of development
3- Conferences: hosting conferences for our partners in development and providing an open space for questions of development and discussion targeting the Egyptian society. The conferences are visited by governmental officials, members of parliament, as well as public officials
4- Consulting: offering consultation for governmental and non-governmental entities.

PID's vision is to carry out and keep development issues, while ensuring the highest levels of integrity and efficiency. Our vision is embodied in our devotion to achieve effective research, outstanding communication and excellent advocacy, working on pressing issues and policies to help developing countries grow.
